How Anonymous Message Links Work—and Their Limits
Understand what anonymous message links can and cannot hide, what creators see, how to write respectful messages and when not to use them.
Anonymous does not mean untraceable
An anonymous message tool can hide the sender’s name from the recipient, but it should never be treated as a guarantee that no technical information exists anywhere. Websites may retain security logs, hosting providers may process request data and lawful requests can require cooperation.
Use anonymity for kind feedback, compliments, memories or questions that do not need personal identification. Do not use it to threaten, harass, blackmail or spread false claims.
What the link creator may see
The creator receives messages through a private dashboard connected to their account. Depending on the feature, the dashboard may show the message text and submission time. A responsible tool should not promise more secrecy than it can technically provide.
Before sending anything, assume the recipient may screenshot, copy or forward it. Do not include information that could harm you or someone else if it becomes public.
Write messages that are useful
Specific, respectful feedback is more valuable than vague criticism. Describe a behaviour or memory rather than attacking a person’s identity. “I appreciated when you helped me during the project” is useful; insults and rumours are not.
If the topic is serious, direct communication may be better. Anonymous tools are poor places for emergencies, allegations, medical advice or relationship ultimatums.
Protect other people’s privacy
Do not include phone numbers, addresses, passwords, private photographs, intimate details or information about a third person who has not consented. Avoid naming someone in a way that could create conflict or public embarrassment.
Never ask the link creator to send money, reveal account credentials or move to an unsafe external conversation.
Creators should moderate responsibly
Creators should delete abusive messages rather than publishing them for engagement. Do not encourage a pile-on by posting anonymous accusations to social media. If a message suggests an immediate safety risk, seek appropriate real-world help instead of trying to investigate through the tool.
Close or delete a message link when it begins attracting spam or abuse. Share links with an intended audience rather than posting them everywhere.
Reporting misuse
If a message page is being used for harassment or impersonation, save the exact URL and relevant screenshots, then contact ZGame. Do not send additional sensitive information in the report. For immediate danger or criminal conduct, contact the appropriate local authority or trusted adult.
